Drew Mahecha-Sherrard is a technician originally from Seattle, Washington with a passion for education and sustainable entertainment. He has recently completed degrees in Theatre Arts (B.A.) and Environmental Management & Protection (B.S.) from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where they’ve worked in multiple roles including as a stagehand, scenic carpenter, stage manager, designer, and technical director.

As a scenic designer, Drew was awarded a Meritorious Achievment Award by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for his work on A Paracosmic Odyssey and was later a finalist for design in Region 8. Beyond Cal Poly, they have worked at the Pacific Conservatory for Performing Arts in Santa Maria, Burien Actor’s Theatre, and Greenstage in Seattle.

Recently, Drew was a co-writer for Alder, an original play for Cal Poly’s Staging Change series, blending his backgrounds of theatre and environmental conservation to create an original touring show for K-6 schools throughout San Luis Obispo County.

When not on headset, you can find Drew reading, playing soccer, or in the great outdoors, probably talking about pinecones.
