Cal Poly Student-Directed Production | Fall 2024

A Paracosmic Odyssey tells the story of Oliver and his best friend, the stuffed dragon Snazzle, delving into a world of dreams and nightmares. A rolling bed becomes the vehicle for a journey through high seas, galaxies, and bustling cities, reflecting the emotional journey Snazzle and Oliver go on together.

The design embraces the imagination of children, using recycled or found objects that a kid would have access to while playing pretend. As Oliver’s journey becomes more taxing, more and more bedding is pulled away. Above the audience, paper star garlands were hung to extend Oliver’s world past the stage.
